Zora Stančič, Enajst tisoč batin / Les onze mille verges, maketa, 2015.

The project Eleven Thousand Rods / Les Onze Mille Verges presented by artist Zora Stančič at KAPSULA shares not only the title of the excessive fantasy novel by Guillaume Apollinaire, but also the same word game, boldness, humor and overall intention. The books, catalogues, artist publications of all shapes and sizes that otherwise usually look out at us from the shelves in the exhibition space have all been wrapped in plain brown paper, something that we associated with the everyday, the insignificant, the profane. The multilayered connections of duality that penetrate the work of this exciting and recognisable artist are also reflected in her project, regardless of its initially discreet appearance. We can understand this intervention from two perspectives: from the parapornographic and the paraliterary. Their common denominator is the artistic genre of pornographic literature as a starting point for reflection about the passionate relationship between humans and art.

The programme of the P.A.R.A.S.I.T.E. Institute is supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia and by the Municipality of Ljubljana, Department for Culture.
