We are very pleased to announce the exceptional and long-awaited release of the new artist’s book by Sanja Ivekovi\u0107 Structure \u2013 Book. After the release of the publication Public Cuts (2006), which accompanied her first extensive, independent presentation in Slovenia \u2013 in the space of P74 Center and Gallery \u2013 this is already her second publishing collaboration with P.A.R.A.S.I.T.E. Institute.
\nStructure \u2013 Book is an artist’s book which is directly connected to the work “Struktura” (Structure) (1975\u20131976), which was comprised of ten newspaper clippings of images of women, cut out from daily newspapers and magazines. Each image of a woman was repeated ten times in the work, each time with a different caption. The order in the work was founded on the visual thinking directly alluding to constructivist tendencies which were characteristic in the medium of painting at that period. <\/p>\n

The artist’s book Structure \u2013 Book has been conceived by the artist as a box containing 100 cards with images and captions.
\nThe book is published in an edition of 50, of which 20 will be signed. The artist’s book was designed by Ajdin Ba\u0161i\u0107.<\/p>\n

Sanja Ivekovi\u0107 is one of the most important contemporary artists. American criticism has recently marked her as the “missing link” in the history of contemporary arts, filling the gap between Cindy Sherman and Marta Rosler. Having concluded her notable exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in New York recently, she is now preparing a larger retrospective in Luxemburg. Sanja Ivekovi\u0107 has also been invited to participate in this year’s documenta 13 in Kassel.<\/p>\n

The publication of the artist’s book Structure \u2013 Book is part of the long-term ongoing programme of P.A.R.A.S.I.T.E. Institute, Artist’s Book, which is concerned with supporting, educating and promoting this complex visual media.
