The talk will be lead by Iza Pevec.<\/em><\/p>\n In P74 Center and Gallery we are pleased to announce our second opening of the year: an international group exhibition by four visual artists of the younger generation: Nikolaus Gansterer (Vienna), Anja Jelov\u0161ek (Ljubljana), Darinka Pop-Miti\u0107 (Belgrade), Veli&Amos (Ljubljana, Z\u00fcrich).<\/p>\n The project The Art of Bombing \u2013 New performative drawing<\/strong> highlights the performative aspect of drawing and the processual side of its creation. We\u2019re especially interested in how it connects with performative artistic practices, such as interventions, happenings, public actions, performance art, public lectures, public art, etc. Back in 1969, Toma\u017e \u0160alamun dragged a continuous line around Petrovaradin Fortress in Novi Sad; in \u201cThe Snake\u201d, Milenko Matanovi\u0107 released wooden sticks tied together with string into the Ljubljanica River, thus they were drawn<\/em> by the river currents; David Nez used a rope to bend stalks of wheat to create new lines in the landscape. The project \u201cHappy Tiger\u201d by Anja Jelov\u0161ek <\/strong>was created during her studies at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design at the University of Ljubljana as a response to the (monotony of the) study process. Every day, in her drawing class, Anja switched on a battery-operated toy to make the drawing for her. It wasn\u2019t a gesture of cynicism or resistance against academic drawing, rather, an investigation of the position artist-machine<\/em>, or rather, machine-artist<\/em>, and with it also the wider set of problematic and themes, such as programming, selection, chance.<\/p>\n In her artistic work Darinka Pop-Miti\u0107<\/strong> researches the relationships between history and the spaces of memory. With monumental-size paintings (murals) she recreates the collective memory and its influence on politics \u2013 and vice versa: she presents the personal (alternative history) in the form of sub-genre and returns it to the spectator in reflection. Her objects and paintings \u2013 from small comic strip drawings to gigantic murals in public spaces (recalling the historical role of murals as a weapon of political propaganda, for example, in Mexico) \u2013 directly address the spectator and question the relationship between art and its social context.<\/p>\n Veli&Amos<\/strong> is a Slovenian-Swiss artist duo, based between Ljubljana and Z\u00fcrich. Their work uses language, codes and the energy of graffiti and activism to draw attention to problems and borders of our present-day reality. They research public space, squats and demonstrations, where they adapt their knowledge into a site-specific art practice. With public art, art on the Internet or inside the gallery, they deal transformation of the selected site. <\/p>\n For years, Nikolaus Gansterer<\/strong> has been fascinated by diagrams as graphic forms that visualise complex associations. In fragile diagrams elements are joined, elements of visibility and invisibility, science and art. In his project DRAWING ON DRAWING A HYPOTHESIS, Nikolaus Gansterer in collaboration with the UK based writer Emma Cocker<\/a> present a performance lecture based on the publication, Drawing a Hypothesis<\/em><\/a>. Using processes of cross-reading and live drawing, their performance lecture approaches the publication as a reader might thumb through a book; where certain sections appear to be lingered over, while others are skimmed in the search for key words and phrases, evocative fragments and extractions.<\/p>\n —<\/p>\n Anja Jelov\u0161ek<\/strong> (b. 1990, Ljubljana) is a third-year student in the Department of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design, University of Ljubljana. Until now she has participated in two group exhibitions: \u201cVideo Turn\u201d at Gallery V\u017eigalica and \u201cArtefatto\u201d in Trieste (both 2013). The programme of the P.A.R.A.S.I.T.E. \nThe exhibition The Art of Bombing \u2013 New performative drawing<\/em> presents the current work of four young artists who represent the new generation of this genre. We have thus borrowed the name of the exhibition from street art: bombing being the slang expression among graffiti artists for the total covering of one or more surfaces with the simple gesture of \u2013 usually \u2013 graffiti or monochrome tags.<\/p>\n
\nVeli&Amos<\/strong>
\nVeli Silver (b. 1983, Banja Luka) attended the Academy of Fine Arts and Design, University of Ljubljana (ALUO). In the year 2005\/06 he participated in an exchange programme at Faculdade de Belas Artes Universidade do Porto in Portugal. Since 2009 he has been working in tandem with Amos Angeles as \u201cVeli & Amos\u201d. Veli Silver has exhibited in a number of solo exhibitions in Z\u00fcrich, Berlin, Maribor, Velenje and in group exhibitions in Graz, Lucerne, Maribor and Ljubljana. He is the recipient of the first prize at Essel 2007, the second prize of graduates of ALUO 2007, first prize Zhdk \u2013 Technopark 2012 and the OHO Group Award 2013.
\nAmos Angeles (born 1986, Zurich) studied Architecture at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich and finished his bachelor’s degree at the Zurich University of the Arts. Veli and Amos have been working as a duo since 2008. Their work has been shown at Museum of Contemporary, Ljubljana; Rotor Gallery, Graz; HVW8 Gallery, Los Angeles; P 74 Gallery, Ljubljana; Message salon, Zurich and W139, Amsterdam.
\nDarinka Pop-Miti\u0107<\/strong> (b. 1975, Belgrade) is an internationally recognised artist, who after studying political science at the University of Belgrade, finished Belgrade Art School. The winner of the October Salon in 2008 and 2009, she has participated in numerous international manifestations and exhibitions, among them, the 9th Gwangju Biennale; the 11th Istanbul Biennial; Center for Contemporary Arts Ujazdowski Castle, Warsaw; Fondazione Puglisi Cosentino, Catania, Italy; Den Frie Centre of Contemporary Art, Copenhagen; ACF, New York; the 52nd October Salon, Belgrade; Nova Gallery, Zagreb.
\nNikolaus Gansterer <\/strong>(b. 1974, Vienna) first studied anthropology at the University of Vienna, then studied sculpture at the Hochschule f\u00fcr Angewandte Kunst, Vienna. He later received his MA in Transmedia Art from the University of Applied Arts Vienna and carried out postgraduate studies at Jan van Eyck Academie in Maastricht. He is a co-founder of the group Transacoustic Research<\/em> and currently lectures at the Institute for Transmedia Art at the University of Applied Arts Vienna. As an internationally recognised artist he has extensive exhibition experience, in recent years he has exhibited at The Drawing Center, New York; Kunsthalle, Vienna; CCCB, Barcelona; ACF, New York; Salzburger Kunstverein; Forum Stadtpark, Graz; Chisenhale Gallery, London; Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna; Villa Manin, Udine; Tent, Rotterdam; Kunstlerhaus Bethanien, Berlin; Space Gallery, London; AnniArt Gallery, Beijing; M HKA, Antwerpen, etc.
\nEmma Cocker<\/strong> (b. 1973, UK) is a writer, artist and senior lecturer in Fine Art at Nottingham Trent University, UK.
