Nina Ko\u010dar<\/span><\/p>\nIn this exhibition the author presents artworks on paper from the series Diving within <\/em>that were created between 2011 and 2012. Alongside a few collages, the majority are pencil drawings and typewritten texts. The works on paper are simple, in most cases composed only of a written statement occasionally accompanied by the outline of a human or animal figure. The statements are clear and short, connected to the author’s personal story, to her own investigations, conclusions and, we could say, even impulses. The animals that Nina Ko\u010dar draws can be interpreted as some type of animal guardians, the type that shamanic cultures believed give us energy and accompany us in life. We can understand the works as pieces of a puzzle, giving us insight into the artistic searching of our own interior, to be, a consideration about development and growth and pointing towards some type of art therapy that gets carried out through her own creative process. The reduction of visual elements assists in making the statement-image or confession, if you will, of the author more general, accessible; it forces us to look deeper than we would if we only read or listened to a long sentimental narration. The works are intimate, personal, yet, because of their content, exceptionally universal and therefore they don\u2019t leave us indifferent.<\/p>\nNina Ko\u010dar <\/strong>(1980, Ljubljana) is a visual artist of the younger generation. After finishing the Secondary School for Design and Photography she graduated from the Academy of Visual Arts and Design, University of Ljubljana, where in 2006 she was recognized for achievements in the field of painting. She has had a solo exhibition at the Gallery of the Youth Centre in Velenje as well as group exhibitions at TIR \u2013 the Gallery of Mostovna Cultural Centre, the exhibition space at Kavarna Veronika in Kamnik, V\u017eigalica Gallery and Postojna Youth Centre (MC Postojna).
