{"id":2511,"date":"2017-04-12T07:49:29","date_gmt":"2017-04-12T06:49:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.zavod-parasite.si\/eng\/?p=2511"},"modified":"2017-06-29T08:39:19","modified_gmt":"2017-06-29T07:39:19","slug":"20-years-of-p74-gallery-economy-of-nature","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arhiv.zavod-parasite.si\/eng\/archives\/2511","title":{"rendered":"The Economy of Nature, 20th anniversary of P74 Gallery"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>16 May \u2013 20 June 2017<br \/>\nP74 Gallery, Trg Prekomorskih brigad 1, Ljubljana<\/p>\n<p><strong>To celebrate the 20th anniversary of P74 Gallery<\/strong>, we are pleased to invite you to the opening of the exhibition project <strong>The Economy of Nature<\/strong> on <strong>Tuesday, 16 May 2017<\/strong> at <strong>8:00 pm<\/strong> at <strong>P74 Gallery<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The artists participating in the exhibition are <strong>Jo\u017ee Bar\u0161i, Toma\u017e Furlan, Dejan Habicht, Polonca Lov\u0161in, Tadej Poga\u010dar, Uro\u0161 Poto\u010dnik and SBD<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3402\" src=\"http:\/\/arhiv.zavod-parasite.si\/slo\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/20-let-P74.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"382\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The new geological era marked mainly by the destructive influence of humankind on the planet has been generally accepted. It seems that a new type of narrative about the contemporary global reality is needed \u2013 whether it be measured by scientists or artists or the two together in a joint endeavor.<br \/>\nThe number of exhibitions and publications dedicated to the study of the intersection between the new ecological era and artistic and cultural practices are multiplying. How can we imagine the future of the environmental humanities?<\/p>\n<p>Already in his <em>On the Origin of Species<\/em>, Darwin used the phrase \u201cthe economy of nature\u201d many times. He was not the first who imagined nature as an economy, at the same time, he was one of the first who established parallels between the functioning of nature and the functioning of political economy.<br \/>\nReflection about the new ecology and the economy of nature was also alive during the 1960s. Members of the OHO group and movement spoke about \u201cOHO things\u201d and \u201cOHO reality\u201d, with traits of antihumanism \u2013 of the so-called \u201cresistance of things\u201d \u2013 of a revolution that changes a person into a slave to things (for example, <em>Steklenica bi rada pila <\/em>[The Bottle would like to Drink]) by Marko Poga\u010dnik and Iztok Geister).<\/p>\n<p>The current understanding of nature as an economy includes an understanding of the concept of interdependence between the world of humans and the world of nature, in which we humans are merely a part of the larger whole.
