After the retrospective exhibition CODE:RED at City Art Gallery of Ljubljana (2018) and its installation in the intermedia centre Edith-Russ-Haus in Oldenburg, the project now moves to the Mali Salon at the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Rijeka. We are pleased to announce the public exhibition opening with a new installation (photographs, video works and collages) and documentary material on Friday, 23 August 2019 at 8 pm.<\/strong><\/p>\n

CODE:RED (1999\u2013today) is one of the most resounding international projects of Tadej Poga\u010dar, who has been developing it since the late 1990s in close collaboration with non-government organizations, experts and communities of sex workers. The project has been hosted throughout Europe, the United States and South America; its editions have been presented at leading biennials of contemporary arts in Venice, Sao Paulo, Istanbul, Prague and Tirana.<\/p>\n

In twenty years of activity, CODE:RED critically problematized a number of the themes that are closely linked to the lives and work of marginalized city minorities, such as, informal economy, public space, self-organization, human trafficking, etc. In the frame of the project CODE:RED, two books were published with theoretical contributions, three issues of the newspaper Sex Worker<\/em>, two artist books, a video work and the archive CODE:RED (with magazines, newspapers, posters, flyers, printed matter, documents and other promotional material.<\/p>\n

The exhibition CODE:RED Rijeka is created in the organization of the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Arts in Rijeka in collaboration with Museums and Galleries of Ljubljana, City Art Gallery of Ljubljana and P74 Gallery, prepared by Alenka Gregori\u010d and Kora Girin.
