Mina Fina\u2019s projections are inspired by synaesthesia. They are physical manifestations of sound, designed in volume and structure. They are spatial and time specific, transformative and ephemeral.<\/p>\n

Says Mina Fina:<\/em>
\nI avoid creating “things” (whether it\u2019s a drawing or a video) which have a specific beginning and an end. Rather than speaking about narrative succession\/narration we could speak about abstract visual landscapes, where the rhythm of the story is determined by sound and modern graphic interpretation. Time is frozen, however it\u2019s always in movement without a destination and a decided purpose. To record the rhythm of contemporaneity, simultaneously estranged and exciting.
\nTime ensnared (in a loop).
\nThe tension between the poetic and the quotidian.
\nI blame night\/dark\/twilight for the places that I cannot remember the next day.<\/p>\n

Mina \u017dabnikar (b. 1978) studied visual communication at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design (ALUO) in Ljubljana, Slovenia, from 1997 to 2002, finishing her diploma in 2002. Moving to Helsinki on a student exchange introduced her to travelling through comic strips and illustrations. During her studies she received two Typographic Excellence awards from the TDC, New York. Her diploma work, a photographic monography of Tone Stojko, gained her an Award for Excellence from ALUO and a Brumen Award for the best work in the category of monography. Since 2008 she has been a member of the design group, grupa Ee. Under the name Mina Fina she investigates drawings, animations and video. She has collaborated in several group exhibitions in Berlin, London, New York, Leipzig and Ljubljana, as well as solo presentations of her work in Ljubljana and Zagreb. She has published six artist\u2019s books.<\/p>\n
